WILDWOOD – A new season is bringing new amenities to this city’s beaches and Summer of 2015 promises to offer beachgoers the most fun-tastic experience ever.
Visitors to Wildwood’s wide, free, beach will not only be able to soak up the sun and take a dip in the ocean, they’ll also be able to ride a Zip Line, roll across the sand in a Zorb Ball or take a seaside ride down a Hippo Slide.
“We’re always looking for new ways to enhance the experience of visitor to our beach,” said Commissioner Pete Byron. “For the past three summers we’ve been working diligently to do that and this year we’re offering more amenities than ever before.”
As New Jersey’s premier family-friendly, world-class beach vacation destination, the city’s list of beach amenities offers something for everyone. Beach box rentals to store items, beach transport vehicles that carry people across the sand to water’s edge and new walkways to make the trek from the city’s world-famous Boardwalk to the ocean are just the beginning of a day on Wildwood’s beach.
Youth baseball on the beach, fire pits, food stands and ice cream vendors will all be part of a day at the beach. Even the family pooch has found its place in the sand. With its historic, well-received dog beach opened last year, the summer of 2015 will find a fenced-off area where Fido can frolic in the sand unleashed.
“We’re also adding changing/shower stalls at Schellenger Avenue,” noted Byron, “along with adding rinse stations at Glenwood Avenue.”
According to Byron, beach amenities brought in $227,000 in revenue in the 2014 season, with this year’s goal of $300,000.
“We had none of these services on the beach three years ago,” the commissioner said. “Not only do they help to offset beach-related expenses and save the taxpayers money, but they also help to make the beach less intimidating and friendlier.”
