CAPE MAY – The Friends of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge will once again host their free “Nature-cize” Walks, every Sunday starting Nov. 16 from 2-3 p.m., at the Two Mile Beach Unit of the Refuge. Nothing too strenuous, just a nice, brisk walk in a beautiful natural setting!
Burn off some of those winter calories with a well-paced walk at this beautiful location. The exact route and length will depend on weather conditions and the group. There are several alternate routes to explore, including several secluded trails and the breathtakingly beautiful ocean beach. Total distance will be about two miles, at a pace of approximately 20 min/mile (with some short breaks if needed). These walks will last approximately one hour.
These walks are free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. As always, dress for the weather. If it’s breezy, the beach can be colder than inland; consider wearing gloves and ear warmers! Heavy rain or snow cancels the event. After the walk, the public is invited to warm up in the Nature Store at Two Mile Beach. Please meet at the Visitors Contact Station at the Two Mile Beach Unit of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, 12001 Pacific Ave (Ocean Dr), Wildwood Crest, near the former Coast Guard Loran Station.
