Experience life on an Early American farm through hands-on activities and exhibits at Historic Cold

Spring Village’s ‘Down on the Farm’ Weekend, Saturday and Sunday July 31st and August 1st from 11am-

4:00pm. Historic Cold Spring Village, an open-air living history museum, presents the trades, crafts,

architecture, and lifestyles of an Early American, rural South Jersey farming community. Special exhibits

throughout the Village will include collections of antique and modern farming equipment and tools. Visitors can tour the historic Corson-Gandy Barn, c. 1880, which is home to Levi the Village horse. Guests can visit the Village, pigs, chickens, and calves. Children may also participate in farm chores at the agricultural barn

complex throughout the day. ‘Down on the Farm’ is generously sponsored by Smeltzer & Sons Feed & Pet Supplies.

The Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village will also host the Annual Dog Show on Saturday beginning

at noon at the Gazebo. Admission to the Village is required to enter through either the Route 9 and/or Seashore Road Gatehouse. The fee has been reduced 50% for one handler and one dog to $6.00. Any guest with a 2021 membership is admitted free of cost. Friends members will be at either gate to register your pet beginning at 11.00am. There is no fee to register this season; however, a complimentary donation would be most welcomed upon receipt of a treat and kerchief. The show will end when all the prizes have been awarded. Categories include Best Dressed, Smallest Dog, Largest Dog, Best Performance, Dog that most looks like owner, and Best in Show. 

Historic Cold Spring Village\ is a 19thc. open air non-profit living history museum that portrays the crafts, trades, lifestyle, and issues from the “Age of Homespun.” 0pen from 11am-4:00pm Thursday thru Sunday, period-clothed interpreters discuss and demonstrate the daily life of a rural South Jersey community of the Early American period. It features 27 restored historic structures on a 30-acre site, including an 8-acre c.1800s farm complex complete with animals. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, from late June to early September, historically clothed interpreters and artisans preserve the heritage of from the “age of homespun.” The museum is located between Route 9 and Seashore Road (Rte. 626) three miles north of Victorian Cape May and a mile and a half west of the southern terminus of the Garden State Parkway. The Seashore Road admission gate is open Thursday thru Sunday; the Route 9 admission gate is open Saturday and Sunday. During the season, the entrance fee is $12 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 are admitted free. Unlimited free admission is available with museum membership. The Village Nature Trail at Bradner’s Run is open to the public for free self-guided tours.
