City of Cape May Announces Lineup for 2020 Summer Concert Series

From classic rock stars to a Motown legend to a patriotic country music icon, the City of Cape May 2020 Summer Concert Series offers eight weeks of outstanding performances. All shows will be held at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Avenue in Cape May, New Jersey at 8 pm.

“Each year, we work to present a concert lineup that offers variety, as well as quality, and we’re excited to announce the extraordinary acts that will perform in our state-of-the-art venue this summer,” said Clarence “Chuck” Lear, Mayor of the City of Cape May. “We invite all of our residents and visitors to join us for one or more of these fantastic shows.”

On Wednesday, July 1, THE DUPREES kick off the concert series. Best known for their 1962 Top Ten hit, “You Belong to Me,” THE DUPREES perform doo-wop vocals along with big band arrangements. Combining smooth harmonies and outstanding showmanship, the group will offer crowd-pleasing performances of hits such as “My Own True Love,” “Have You Heard?” and “Why Don’t You Believe Me?”

On Wednesday, July 8, Grammy-winning country music artist Lee Greenwood takes the stage. Writer and performer of the well-known patriotic anthem, “God Bless the U.S.A.,” Greenwood has recorded
seven #1 hits on the Hot County Songs list. He has been named Male Vocalist of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

On Wednesday, July 15, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductees The Platters perform their timeless hits. Between the early 1950s and late 1960s, the group had 40 hits, including
classics such as “The Great Pretender,” “My Prayer,” “Twilight Time,” and “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” all of which hit #1.

On Wednesday, July 22, The Guess Who bring classic rock to Cape May. These Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees achieved international success with 14 Top 40 singles, including “These Eyes,” “No Time,” “Share the Land,” “Laughing,” “Undun,” and the #1 hits “American Woman” and “No Sugar Tonight.”

On Wednesday, July 29, The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston bring their unique brand of Rhythm & Blues to the Jersey Shore. The group recorded 45 top hits on the Billboard R&B chart, 16 of which landed on the Billboard Hot 100. Gerald Alston fronted the group on its biggest hits, including “Kiss and Say Goodbye” and the Grammy-winning “Shining Star.”

On Wednesday, August 5, MARY WILSON of the Supremes fills Convention Hall with the captivating sounds of Motown. Wilson recorded a total of twelve #1 singles with the legendary Supremes, including “Baby Love,” “Come See About Me,” “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” and “Back in My Arms Again.”

On Wednesday, August 12, THE HIT MEN: Legendary Rock SuperGroup & Musicians Hall of Fame Honorees bring a multi-media entertainment experience to music fans. Renowned musicians who have toured with artists such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Foreigner, The Who, and Toto, this SuperGroup performs classic hits and shares fascinating stories about touring and recording with rock royalty

On Wednesday, August 19, The Modern Gentlemen: The voices behind Frankie Valli over the last decade close out the Summer Concert Series. After performing with Valli as The Four Seasons for more than ten years, this talented group now puts its unique spin on some of Valli’s hits and many other favorites.
