The early weather forecast looks sunny for Ocean City’s Spring Block Party on Saturday. That’s always good news for the premier spring event, which features more than 350 crafters, food vendors, musicians and kids’ activities stretched out over a mile of downtown Asbury Avenue between Fifth Street and 14th Street.
The block party runs rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 6. More than 100 downtown stores will be open for business and have table sales out front. Pony rides for children will be available 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle.
This will be the 35th year for an event that now regularly attracts tens of thousands of visitors.
Merchant table sales will continue on Sunday between Sixth and 14th streets on the boardwalk and downtown Asbury Avenue.
This year, the local American Legion post will sponsor a benefit concert featuring Philly Soul & Rock ’N’ Roll on Saturday night. The show includes Philadelphia legends the Trammps (“Disco Inferno” and “Hold Back the Night”), the Dovells (“Bristol Stomp” and “You Can’t Sit Down”) and Blue Notes (“The Love I Lost” and “If You Don’t Know Me by Now”). The concert will be held at 7 p.m. May 6 on the Ocean City Music Pier. Tickets are $40 and are available at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, by calling (609) 399-6111, or in-person at the City Hall Welcome Center or the Roy Gillian Welcome Center on the Route 52 causeway.
