Winter Wonderland Returns to Congress Hall for its 13th Season

Congress Hall, the historic hotel in the heart of Cape May, transforms its grounds into a “Winter Wonderland” every year. Celebrating its 13th season, the beloved tradition continues with intricate decorations across the entire hotel grounds, and returning activities like Breakfast with Santa, Congress Hall Express rides, and Santa’s Workshop events.  

The Winter Wonderland festivities began Nov. 24, and concludes on January 1st, 2024 featuring the following programming: 

  • The Congress Hall Carousel rides on the front lawn  

  • Santa’s Workshop activities: Christmas crafts, including mailing letters to Santa and weekend storytime with Mrs. Claus 
    • Thursday through Sunday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Founder’s Hall 

  • Festive cookie decorating  
    • Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. in Founder’s Hall 

  • The Congress Hall Express: a festive train ride that winds its way around the grand hotel’s picturesque lawn and veranda 

  • Vendor Village, complete with candy cane-striped tents and seven specialty stores, each featuring Cape May gifts, souvenirs, and curiosities 
    • Thursday & Friday: 4 to 9 p.m.
    • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.  

  • Breakfasts with Santa in the Congress Hall Grand Ballroom, featuring a full buffet menu and photos with Saint Nick by the poinsettia tree 
    • November 25 through December 24, 2023, Every Saturday & Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The highlight of the Winter Wonderland festivities will be the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 1st from 6 to 8 p.m. This year’s crown jewel – the 30-foot Norway Spruce – will be illuminated at 8 p.m. on Congress Hall’s Grand Lawn. Visitors can look forward to festive tunes played by the Festival Choir.
