RIO GRANDE – For the second consecutive year, Rio Station has won “Best Wings” from Beachcomber Camping Resort in its annual contest.
In addition to Rio Station, participating restaurants competing for the award included Lucky Bones, Cappy’s, Carney’s, Harpoons, Harry’s, Erma Deli and Wing it!
“We are pleased to have won again,” said a spokesperson for the restaurant. “We were up against some of the best area restaurants, so it is truly an honor.”
Executive Chef Richard Rutherford III creates all of the sauces for Rio Station’s wings from mild to the super hot redrum sauce. The sauce used for the Beachcomber competition was a special custom blend created just for the event. Rutherford has been growing his own hot peppers and creating his own line of hot sauces that, similar to those available for the wings, range from mild to extremely hot. Sauces are available by request when dining at the restaurant.
Rio Station is located just outside of the Grande Center Mall at Rt. 9 & 47, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night, seven days a week starting at 7:30 a.m.
