Lucy the Elephant

Located in Margate, Lucy is the oldest remaining example of zoomorphic architecture left in the U.S. Celebrating her 136th birthday this year, she has been painstakingly restored into the beautiful structure displayed today. Walk through Lucy and learn about her unique architecture and history from a tour guide. Once you climb the spiral staircase all the way up to the covered howdah on her back, take in the spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding shore area.
Lucy is about 40 minutes from Rio Grande, Exit 29 off of the Garden State Parkway.

Absecon Lighthouse

New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse awaits you! Take an amazing journey to the past as you ascend the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse at 171 feet. One of the oldest lighthouses in the country, the Absecon Lighthouse celebrates its 160th birthday this year. At the top, you’ll catch breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline and come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens, first lit in 1857. You’ll also find a stunning replica of the lightkeeper’s dwelling, an educational museum, a charming gift shop and expansive grounds.
