When you think of strawberries, your immediate thought most likely isn’t to pair them with basil. But, the Morey’s have found a creative way to make this combination oh so delicious with this week’s drink of the week, Strawberry Basil Bubbly from Joe’s Fish Co. on Morey’s Surfside Pier.
Crisp, cool and refreshing, bartender Johnny made the Strawberry Basil Bubbly by first muddling strawberries, fresh basil from Morey’s own garden, and lime juice in a glass. Next, he added ice, Hendrick’s Gin and St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur. After giving the mixture a good shake, he strained it over the rocks, topped it with champagne and garnished it with a basil leaf. The result was a pastel pink cocktail full of a pleasantly surprising taste – bold basil with the perfect amount of sweet strawberry to balance it out.
