The United States Futsal Federation will host the Northeast Futsal Regional Championships Saturday, Feb. 13 through Monday, Feb. 15 in the Wildwoods Convention Center. This 3-day, action-packed indoor tournament will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.
Futsal is a variant of soccer that is played on a smaller area and mainly played indoors. It is played between two teams, each with five players including the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutes per team are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular soccer ball. The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces, resulting in fast-paced, exciting games.
Teams consist of various age brackets and will include more than 2,000 players from around the world. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams and top players as well.
Admission is $10 per day or $20 for all 3 days. Children 8 and under are free. Wristbands will be available for purchase at the door.
