NASW Runway 5k, Fun Run and Bike
Saturday, June 6th at 7am
Where: Cape May Airport, 507 Terminal Dr #102
NASW will kick off the busy summer with the return of the Runway 5K, Fun Walk & Bike on June 6. With the cooperation of the Delaware River & Bay Authority, the airport will temporarily close to air traffic to allow runners and walkers this unique opportunity to compete on the runway. New for this year it the option to preview the course on bike. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m., 5k race starts at 9 a.m. To register visit runsignup.com/runway5k.

Bird – Bunkers & Brews

Where: Departs from the Flight Deck Diner, 505 Terminal Dr, Rio Grande
Join us for a very special tour designed for bird lovers, history enthusiasts, and beer aficionados alike. You don’t have to be a serious biker for this day long tour, beach-cruisers are fine….but it will be a full day jam packed with ornithological novelties, scenic wonders and historic vistas. Expect to cover approximately 30 miles throughout the day, but rest assured that frequent stops will enable us to explore natural and historical gems throughout both regions. Strawberry Festival

Where: Wilbraham Park, Myrtle Avenue and Broadway, West Cape May
Sponsored by the West Cape May Business Association, the Strawberry Festival has become an eagerly anticipated event each spring. Strawberries abound in both edible and non edible form. Festivities begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 5:00PM in Wilbraham Park. The rain date is June 7th. Organizer not yet determined.

JDRF Wildwood Walk to Cure Diabetes

Where: Wildwoods Boardwalk at Morey’s Adventure Pier, 3720 Boardwalk
Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.; the 3 mile walk begins at 10:30 a.m. on the Wildwoods Boardwalk. The JDRF Wildwood Walk to Cure Diabetes draws people together for a worthy goal: raising money to improve the lives of every person affected by Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating and preventing T1D. Endless Summer Party

Where: The Rusty Nail, 205 Beach Avenue, Cape May
Celebrate the start of those long summer nights at one of the country’s best beach bars! Guests will enjoy live music while sitting around the fire pit and throwing back some cold cocktails, like “The Hammer.” The Rusty Nail’s keepsake cocktail is served in a souvenir coconut and is made up of Gosling’s Black Seal rum, Cruzan coconut rum, passion fruit puree, fresh lemon and pineapple juices.

Cold Spring Country Fair

Where: Historic Cold Spring Village, 720 Shore Road, Cape May
Step back in time during Historic Cold Spring Village’s Free Country Fair, Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7. Guests are invited to tour a selection of the Village’s 26 restored, historic buildings where historical interpreters demonstrate the trades, crafts and lifestyles of the “homespun era.” Enjoy games, crafts, historic dress-up, face-painting, a special sale at the Country Store and a bake sale. Antique dealers, folk artists and crafters will display and sell their wares along the Village’s shaded lanes throughout the weekend.

Explore the Shore
Saturday, June 6th at 11am
Where: Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May
Discover the secrets of Cape May Harbor as we explore the shore and marsh. Join our naturalists as we hike the beach, pull a seine net (weather permitting), and encounter an incredible diversity of marine life. We’ll learn about the fascinating lives of the animals that inhabit our coastal and wetland habitats; including the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. Have an up-close experience with horseshoe crabs, sea stars, and other local marine critters in our laboratory and learn why these animals are so important. Walk-ins welcome. No preregistration necessary.

Cape May Port Commercial Fishing Festival
Sunday, June 6th and 7th at 11am
Where: The Lobster House, 906 Schellinger Landing Rd, Cape May
Tour the “Roanne” a vintage Eastern Rig dragger fishing boat restored at Mystic Seaport and meet Cape May locals who helped restore it. Seafood demonstrations, wharf tours and more! Free admission!

Jimmy’s Smokin’ Pig Roast
Monday, June 8th at 4pm
Where: The Rusty Nail, 205 Beach Avenue, Cape May
Come watch grill Master Jimmy Burton in action at The Rusty Nail as he roasts a whole Berkshire pig from Cape Resorts’ very own Beach Plum Farm. Piggy Platters and Porkwiches are palate pleasers for all ages. Starts at 4pm on Monday nights- this is a popular event, so get there early.
