Osprey Point’s Patriot Day Service
Friday, September 11th at 10 a.m.
Where: Godfrey Memorial Park, Osprey Point, 1731 Route 9, Seaville
Commander Mick Scott, Training Officer of the Coast Guard’s Recruit Training Center in Cape May, will speak about his recollections of 9/11. He was young Junior Officer underway on a 110′ Patrol Boat conducting a Caribbean-based counter-narcotics patrol when he learned of the attacks on our homeland. He will share his experience in the days, weeks, and months after the attacks, how it deeply and permanently impacted his crew and their missions, and how the event ultimately strengthened their resiliency. Commander Charles Adelizzi of VFW Post 8695 and Commander Dennis DeSalvo of American Legion Post 239 will lead the flag salute. The Upper Township Fire and Rescue Squads will be represented by personnel and a display of equipment. Visitors and dignitaries will be acknowledged. All are welcome to attend this Patriot Day Service to remember and honor those who have fallen or suffered grievous harm on this day of disaster.

Street Rod Exhibition

Where: Tabernacle Grounds, 550 Wesley Avenue, Ocean City
This popular rally, features modified, classic cars on display. It will celebrate its 41st year with a one day exhibition. Cars will be featured at Tabernacle Grounds, 550 Wesley Ave., from 8 a.m. until noon, and then be shown on the Boardwalk until 4 p.m. Many of the vehicles are enhanced by artwork. Mutt Strut

The annual Mutt Strut gives owners and their canines a morning to enjoy a walk on the Cape May Promenade and celebrate the end of the dog days of summer. The 9th annual event will this year highlight dog costume and dog trick contests and a dog obedience demonstration. Half the proceeds benefit No Dog Gets Left Behind, with the remainder to CMCDOTC, the event sponsor. Register on date of event on Promenade near Convention Hall. Raindate is 9/13. Come! Have Fun!

Morey’s Piers ‘Gone to the Dogs’

Your pooch can paddle in the pools of Raging Waters Water Park at Morey’s Piers “Gone to the Dogs!” Man’s best friend can enjoy an evening swim from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. (check in starts at 4:45 p.m.) located at the rear of Morey’s Mariner’s Pier at Schellenger Ave. and the Boardwalk. Water bowls and free dog treats will be stationed throughout the water park for dogs to recharge as they paddle around the river adventure or play in the fountain pool. A variety of activities are scheduled including a doggy swimsuit competition starting at 6:15 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Wrecker’s Beach Grille.
