Fun Friday
Friday, May 2nd from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Crest Memorial School will hold its annual Fun Friday event on Friday, May 2, in the school’s gymnasium and cafeteria beginning at 5:30 p.m. This yearly event features music, games, and prizes for the school community. Fun Friday originated as a way for students and teachers to spend a non-academic evening to raise funds for the Robin Thompson Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to Crest Memorial School Graduates. Over the years the event has shared funds with other causes. For the past few years, the funds benefit the Peg Rowland Scholarship Fund as well as the Robin Thompson Scholarship Fund. Thompson was a Crest Memorial elementary school teacher for many years before dying of cancer. Rowland taught fourth-grade at Crest Memorial for 20 years before her sudden death in 2012. Rowland was chair of Fun Friday until her death.

Students in grades 3-6 participate in relay games and activities in the school’s gym. Seventh- and eighth-grade students play a competitive kickball game on the school’s athletic field. Younger students play games of chance in the cafeteria. All participate in the food and carnival atmosphere that is the essence of the evening.
