The Wildwoods: What to Do in the Winter at the Jersey Shore

The Wildwoods – North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest – are known as an exciting summertime destination, with bustling crowds, thrilling attractions, delicious restaurants, unique shops and of course, beautiful beaches. The crowds may thin when the calendar reaches the colder months, but there are still plenty of ways to Do The Shore! Take a break from reality for an offseason getaway, and come see all the Wildwoods have to offer in the winter.

On this five mile island, you’ll find a handful of popular restaurants that stay open for the winter season. Visit your favorites with no crowds or waits!

Stroll the North Wildwood Seawall when the weather allows and enjoy peaceful ocean views. While there, stop by the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse for a guided or self-guided tour through the lighthouse.

For some family fun, Island Bowl features 32 lanes, an arcade, a lounge and weekly specials.

Be sure to check out the Wildwoods Convention Center’s calendar before your trip, because it plays host to numerous events, conventions, competitions and more all year long.

Offshore of the Wildwoods in Rio Grande, you can entice your palate with tastings and tours at 7 Mile Brewery and Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery.

Also in Rio Grande is Frank Theatres, so grab a bucket of popcorn and catch that new release you’ve been dying to see!

Two live action adventures are located in this area – Escape NJ and Escape May. Both involve a race against time to escape using clues, puzzles and riddles.

History awaits at the Naval Air Station Wildwood at the Cape May Airport, an aviation museum with aircrafts, engines, special exhibits and educational interactive displays.

There’s always something happening at the shore! Check out and visit our events calendar for more ways to Do The Shore during the offseason.
