The Masterworks Choir Presents Schubert’s ‘Mass in G’

On Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m., the Masterworks Choir of Ocean City, under the direction of John Gregory Bate, will present Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G.” The evening program will also include folk songs from America and the British Isles, including an original arrangement of “Amazing Grace” by Scott Breiner. The concert will take place at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street and Central Avenue, Ocean City.

Appearing with the choir will be Nancy Fox, soprano, Rob Laird, tenor, Florence Moyer, alto and Robert Snodgrass, baritone.

Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G” was written in 1815 and has always been a favorite with the experts. The intensity of this sacred arrangement is mainly found in its simplicity, and the modest, personal experiencing of religious contemplation.

The church is handicapped accessible. A freewill offering will be received. For more information, contact John Bate at (609) 399-2988 ext. 104.

Come join us for an evening of beautiful music.

This program is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Cape May County Cultural and Heritage Commission from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
