The Hit Men: Legendary Rock Supergroup Perform in Cape May Summer Concert Series Aug. 15

The Hit Men: Legendary Rock Supergroup will perform famous hits from their legendary musical legacy in the Cape May Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The show takes place at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Ave. in Cape May, beginning at 8 p.m.

From Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons to Elton John, and from Tommy James & The Shondells to Paul McCartney, dozens of influential pop artists have had at least one of The Hit Men playing behind them on the road or in the studio. The members of this legendary supergroup – Lee Shapiro, Jimmy Ryan, Jeff Ganz, Russ Velazquez and Steve Murphy – have sung, played or played and sung some of the most memorable hits of the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Their talents can be heard on songs such as “Who Loves You,” “Oh What A Night,” “The Loco-motion,” “Peace Train,” “Mony Mony” and “Joy to the World.”

Separately, each of The Hit Men has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments in the music industry. Lee Shapiro, who arranged some of the Four Seasons’ biggest hits, collaborated with artists including Barry Manilow, Tony Orlando and Tommy James. Jimmy Ryan, a singer, songwriter and lead guitarist of The Critters, has played guitar on albums by Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney and Elton John. Bass guitarist and vocalist Jeff Ganz has toured and recorded with Johnny Winter, John Lee Hooker, Lou Reed, Chuck Berry, Cheap Trick, Vanilla Fudge and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Singer, composer and arranger Russ Velazquez has collaborated with the likes of Sting, The Ramones, LL Cool J and Luther Vandross. Drummer, singer, producer and engineer Steve Murphy has worked with the Alan Parsons Project, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Dave Mason, Todd Rundgren, The Turtles and more than a dozen other major artists.

Together, The Hit Men have appeared on over 85 albums, won multiple Gold and Platinum Recording Awards, received Emmy nominations, Telly Awards, Clio Awards and more.
