The Fourth Annual Cape May Dragon Boat Festival Returns to Cape May on Saturday, September 19th

Registration for the Cape May Dragon Boat festival is open, so rally your coworkers, friends and family and join us for the Cape May Dragon Boat Festival hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May. Put 20 of your friends into a 40 foot boat with decorative dragon heads and tails, give them a paddle and watch the fun begin. This exciting sport brings together social groups and businesses down to the water to bond with friendly competition for the day. From veteran paddlers to newbies, anyone can do this.

Each year many of the dragon boat teams have raised thousands of dollars for their favorite charities. Childhood Leukemia, Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, Nature Center, Family Promise, Animal Outreach and more. Some teams just race for the fun and some use this as a fundraising opportunity to help other non profits and charities.

The festival will take place at the Cape May Harbor on Saturday, September 19th from 9AM to 5PM, followed by an after party at Harry’s Bar and Grille. The Dragon Boats will launch from the beach at the Fisherman’s Memorial and compete in a 200 meter race. Each team will race three times to compete for the Grand Champion Trophy and gold, silver and bronze medals. Trophies will also be given for best team spirit, best decorated tent, best team cheer or dance, and least wet.

Breast cancer teams will take part in a carnation ceremony at noon in honor of those that did not survive their fight against cancer.

Thank you to the sponsors that have already come on board including: Hotel Alcott, La Mer Beachfront Inn, Sea Salt Restaurant, Spilker Funeral Home, and Sturdy Savings Bank.
