Registration for the Cape May Dragon Boat festival is open, so rally your coworkers, friends and family and join us for the Cape May Dragon Boat Festival hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May. Put 20 of your friends into a 40-foot boat with decorative dragon heads and tails, give them a paddle and watch the fun begin. This exciting sport brings together social groups and businesses down to the water to bond with friendly competition for the day. Anyone can paddle – we have all levels of paddlers from newbies to veterans.
Each year, many of the dragon boat teams have raised thousands of dollars for their favorite charities, including Leukemia, cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, local non-profits such as Family Promise and Animal Outreach, and more. We also have teams that just race for the fun of it!
The festival will take place at the Cape May Harbor on Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Dragon Boats will launch from the beach at the Fisherman’s Memorial and compete in a 200-meter race. Each team will race to compete for the Grand Champion Trophy along with gold, silver and bronze medals. Trophies will also be awarded for best team spirit, best decorated tent and best team cheer or dance. Breast cancer teams will take part in a carnation ceremony in honor of those that did not survive their fight against cancer.
