On Saturday, Sept. 22 at 9 a.m., SUP Cape May will host the second annual City Meets the Beach Paddle Race & Benefit. This seven-mile paddle race will raise money for the Children’s Fresh Air Home (CFAH) organization, a nonprofit organization that provides a no-cost, enriching summer experience at the Jersey Shore in a safe, positive environment for children who may be living with family or community adversities. This income will help sustain their mission to finish rehabilitating the home, and provide room and board for the children they look to give this experience to.
The race will begin at SUP Cape May/Mill Creek Marina, 960 Ocean Dr., and will head into the Cape May Harbor, circle to the back bays of the salt marsh and end back at SUP Cape May. A 2.33-mile fun paddle will launch afterward for those who are not racing but want to be on the water. Racer and fun paddle fee is $30 which includes a T-shirt, entrance into the fundraiser and food. Register at www.paddleguru.com/races/2ndAnnualCityMeetstheBeach.
A fundraiser will follow at Harbor View Restaurant from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. featuring music from Subliminal Message, Nathan Cwik and Joe Grassi. Cost is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Call (609) 827-1086 to purchase tickets for the fundraiser only.
