Jacklyn Buckingham
Attention all young and talented musicians. The Parkway Players, under the direction of Jacklyn Buckingham, will be holding a vocal/instrumental contest May 11 at 6 p.m. at the Middle Township PAC. This contest, Jersey Shore’s Got Talent, is for vocalists and instrumentalist grades 9th-12th living in Cape May County. Winners of the contest will receive cash prizes, gift cards and a solo performance with the Jersey Shore Pops. The finalists will be chosen by the director of the Parkway Players and the Music Director of the Jersey Shore Pops.
This competition emphasizes musicality and ability. Entrants must provide your own sheet music and an accompanist will be provided. Rehearsal for the competition will take place on May 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Middle Township PAC. Upon submission of your contest application, you will be given a rehearsal time and you will be asked to identify the song you will be singing/playing. Deadline to enter the competition is May 4. Prizes for vocalist and instrumentalists:
1st Place – $500, performance with the Jersey Shore Pops and 4 tickets to see the Jersey Shore Pops
2nd Place – $100 and 4 tickets to see the Jersey Shore Pops
3rd place – Gift card and 2 tickets to see the Jersey Shore Pops
A $100 scholarship will also be given out to the most musically motivated contestant (essay submission required).
