CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Linda Gentille & the Jersey Shore Pops will present their 2017 Summer Concert Series at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center starting July 22.
The 2017 Summer Concert Series is highly anticipated by both Pops performers and patrons. As James Barr, Pops treasurer and board member, declares, “We, at the Jersey Shore Pops, are excited to announce our 2017 summer season, which will continue our tradition of serving the South Jersey community by providing a diverse repertoire of popular and classical pieces performed by the finest local musicians. Our music director, Linda Gentille, has worked tirelessly to assemble a series of outstanding programs anchored by great headliners like Travis Turpin, Lovena Fox and Johnny Petillo.”

Saturday, July 22 at 7 p.m.: “Iconic Voices” with Travis Turpin
In-demand singer, musician and impressionist Travis Turpin joins the Pops for “Iconic Voices.” Travis’ vocal talents encompass multiple genres, including Broadway, Pop, Rock and Country. His impressions include show business legends like Sammy Davis Jr., Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, the incomparable Elvis, Neil Diamond, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash.
Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m.: “Great Balls of Fire” with Music Director & Pianist Linda Gentille
World-renowned Pops music director and principal soloist Linda Gentille takes front stage with “Great Balls of Fire,” celebrating the careers of great piano legends, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Liberace, Roger Williams, Billy Joel, Elton John, Barry Manilow, Stevie Wonder, Fats Waller, Floyd Cramer and Victor Borge. Linda has performed around the world, having recently completed her 15th concert tour of China where she holds the world record, according to the Chinese Ministry of Culture, for performing more concerts (over 150 to date) in China than any other artist.
Saturday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m.: “Divas of Soul” with Lovena Fox
Versatile singer, songwriter and actress Lovena B. Fox joins the Pops for “Divas of Soul.” Lovena played the role of “Sarah” in the Chicago and U.S. National Tour productions of the Tony Award-winning musical “Ragtime,” for which she was nominated Best Actress at the National Broadway Theatre Awards. Lovena also received the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Actress for her performance as “Lucy” in the musical “Jekyll & Hyde.”
Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.: “Wildwood Days” with Johnny Petillo
Singer, comedian and impressionist Johnny Petillo joins the Pops for “Wildwood Days: Tribute to the 50s,” featuring the music made famous by Bobby Rydell, The Platters, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dion & The Belmonts, Liberace, Elvis and more. With his powerful and soulful voice, Johnny was a member of both Danny and the Juniors and The Duprees. In 2003, Johnny was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
Both season tickets and individual tickets are now on sale. Prices range from $25 to $40 for the individual seats, with a Season Pass at $120. There is a group rate of $22 for sales of 15 or more.
