Shop-A-Holics Weekend Returns March 3-6

AVALON — The popular Shop-A-Holics weekend event returns to The Princeton and The Whitebrier from March 3-6, featuring extended shopping hours and a Thursday night preview party. Grab your girlfriends and get ready for spring with designers, drinks and deals in two great locations with even better prices.

The event is hosted by the 7 Mile Business Community Association (7MBCA) and a variety of Seven Mile Beach stores and boutiques are confirmed to participate, including Closet Boutique, Global Pursuit, Blufish Designs, ellelauri, Armadillo, Ltd. and more.

“Now in its ninth year, Shop-A-Holics has become the ‘soft’ opening for the season and the ‘must go to’ discount shopping party the first weekend in March,” said Event Coordinator Kathy Wierzbicki. “Each year it gets bigger and better. It is a great opportunity to catch up with friends over a cocktail and a burger, take advantage of great deals on everything from women’s and men’s clothing, shoes and accessories to home décor from all the best local stores of the Seven Mile Island, while supporting a local charity, Play With Jack.”

This year’s event will benefit the Play With Jack Foundation, which raises funds and awareness in an effort to fight cancer in memory of Jack Cremin. Shoppers are encouraged to pay a $5 cover charge on Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. Monetary donations will be accepted throughout the weekend as well.

The event isn’t just for ladies: Hassis Men’s Shop will have a space featuring brand-name men’s fashions. Tiger Lily, People People and Gingy’s will show off the latest fashions and Coffee Talk will be serving delicious coffee and pastries. Don’t forget to grab a cocktail as you browse from among 30 participating vendors.

Cure those winter blues with a little retail therapy during Shop-A-Holics weekend. The hours for the event are Thursday, March 3 from 5 to 9 p.m.; Friday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Princeton Bar & Grill is located at 2008 Dune Dr., and The Whitebrier is at 260 20th St.

The event is supported in part by a grant from the NJ Department of State, Division of Travel and Tourism. For more information, go to www.visitavalonnj.com.
