On Wednesday, June 26, Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism will host the resort’s annual Sara the Turtle Festival at Excursion Park, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue, from 7- 9 p.m. (rain date: Thursday, June 27). The festival will include a variety of free family activities, live entertainment, nature displays and the chance to pet a menagerie of exotic animals.
Festival-goers of all ages will enjoy live animal exhibits by New Jersey Nature and the Wetlands Institute, featuring Diamondback Terrapin Turtles, snakes, and other critters. The 2019 Sara the Turtle Festival will also have strolling entertainment, face painters, inflatable bounce houses, a sand art booth, and a turtle nesting display by Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue – as well as exhibits by the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, the Sea Isle City Beachcomber Guides and other organizations that will offer information and hands-on displays.
Non-walking babies are invited to participate in the festival’s charming “Diaper Derby” crawling contest, which will begin at 7:10 p.m. at Excursion Park. Awards will be presented to the top three winning babies.
The Sara the Turtle Festival will culminate with a musical presentation by The Turtlesingers, who will introduce audience members to a variety of live turtles as they sing about the important role turtles play in nature.
