Rootstock concert series brings world class musicians to local vineyard
LOWER TOWNSHIP – In its second year, the Rootstock Concert Series presented by Hawk Haven Vineyard and Spyboy Productions features renowned musicians, award-winning wines and local food purveyors at the scenic setting at Hawk Haven.
Rootstock Vineyard Concert Series is a feast for the senses, offering great music, stunning vineyard sunsets, local artisans and a picnic menu that complements award-winning Hawk Haven wines. Named for the essential part of the grape vine, Rootstock combines beautiful vineyard ambiance and intimate performances by world-class musicians. Grab a seat at one of our picnic tables or kick back on a beach chair beside the vines.
Mark your calendars for Friday, June 24 when Jeffrey Gaines returns to the Rootstock stage.
Singer/songwriter and guitarist Jeffrey Gaines brought an original voice to the sea of singer/songwriters that emerged in the 1990s. Born in Harrisburg, Pa., Gaines studied drawing and painting, but became interested in singing as a teen, taking his cue from musicians like John Lennon, David Bowie, Ray Davies and Elvis Costello. After high school, Gaines was offered the singer slot for a New York band, but turned it down to move to Philadelphia, where he signed with Chrysalis Records. His self-titled 1992 debut drew critical praise from far and wide, and put him on the musical map as a sensitive folk-rock artist.
Rootstock concerts continue on Friday, July 8 featuring De Tierra Caliente, Friday, July 22 featuring Black Horse Motel, Friday, Aug. 5 featuring the Bastard Sons of Captain Mey, Friday, Aug. 19 featuring Terrance Simien and the Zydeco experience and Friday, Sept. 2 featuring Mutlu.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Live music begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 9:30 p.m. Visitors can pack a beach chair or blanket for the event. Well behaved children and pets are also welcome.
