Rita Coolidge set for June 27, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage for July 11
CAPE MAY – The City of Cape May moves forward with a full schedule of concert performances following the packed house brought by Tanya Tucker as she kicked off the series over Memorial Day weekend. Next up is two-time Grammy Award winner, Rita Coolidge, on Monday, June 27, followed by frequent chart-topping country and bluegrass act Rhonda Vincent & the Rage on Monday, July 11. Concerts are scheduled for 8 p.m. at Cape May Convention Hall.
Many might recognize Coolidge as one of the original “veejays” for VH1. But she is also an iconic recording artist with hits including “We’re All Alone,” “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher,” “The Way You Do the Things You Do” and “All Time High.” She and then husband Kris Kristofferson won Grammys in 1974 and ’76 for Best Country Vocal by a Duo or a Group, and she has been honored with a Lifetime of Musical Achievement award at the 2002 First Americans in the Arts Awards, as well as the Native American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement. Coolidge is known as one of the most versatile singers of the rock generation and will keep concert-goers on their feet with her popular hits.
Rhonda Vincent is an accomplished player in a variety of instruments including a bluegrass favorite, the fiddle, the mandolin and many more. Vincent has collaborated with legends including Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Alan Jackson and more, and has had a number of hits, including “You Can’t Take It With You When You Go,” “If Heartaches Had Wings” and “I’ve Forgotten You.” Vincent is a leader in the bluegrass genre, boasting eight International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year awards, five Grammy nominations and five Entertainer of the Year awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America, among many other awards. Vincent is a world-class musician with an award-winning voice, setting the stage for a one-of-a-kind performance for all to enjoy.
