Pure Prairie League and Orleans Kick Off Cape May Summer Concert Series

SPON City of Cape May - Orleans

Classic country rock hits and upbeat melodies come to the Jersey Shore on Wednesday, July 3, as Pure Prairie League and Orleans kick off the City of Cape May 2019 Summer Concert Series. The show takes place at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Avenue in Cape May, New Jersey, beginning at 8 p.m.

Pure Prairie League has developed a reputation as one of country rock’s pioneering forces. After recording two albums with RCA in the early 1970s, the band embarked on an extensive tour. “Amie,” the group’s catchy ode to an on-and-off relationship, became so popular with concertgoers that radio stations began receiving regular requests for the song. RCA re-released both the single and “Bustin’ Out,” the album on which it appeared, and in 1975, “Amie” reached Number 27 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Over the next six years, the band recorded six more Hot 100 hits, including “Let Me Love You Tonight,” which reached Number 10 in 1980.

For more than four decades, Orleans has entertained music fans with intelligent lyrics and engaging melodies. After touring clubs and colleges throughout the Northeastern United States, the band found success on the Billboard charts in with “Let There Be Music” in 1975. The band followed up with certified gold hits “Dance with Me,” which reached Number 6 on United States pop charts, “Still the One,” which reached Number 5, and “Love Takes Time” which reached Number 11. The upbeat sound and positive message of “Still the One” led to its use as a theme song for the ABC television network and a number of political candidates.
