Join the Nature Center of Cape May for a 2-hour guided kayak tour in and around Cape May Harbor on Saturday, June 20th, beginning at 1:00. After the paddle, participants are invited back to the C-View Inn for an event “After-Party,” sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
Paddle for a Purpose raises money for the Nature Center’s Good Neighbor Fund which in turn provides scholarships for Coast Guard (TRACEN) dependent children so that they can attend summer programs at the Center. New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May is literally surrounded by Coast Guard Housing but the relationship is far more than geographic since the Center has served as a second home to generations of Coast Guardsmen and their families. This relationship between the Center and TRACEN epitomizes the concept of “neighbors helping neighbors,” or according to Sanctuary Director Gretchen Whitman, “The Good Neighbor Fund is our way of giving back to our Coast Guard friends and families.”
Aqua Trails Kayak Tours and Sales, located on site at the Nature Center, will provide the guides and kayaks if needed. The C-View Inn will host the “After-Party” which will commence when paddling is complete, or around 3:00. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is the event sponsor.
Remember, this is a fundraiser: $40 pays for a single entrant while $70 pays for a double, or bring the whole family (2-doubles) for $100. Bring your own boat and pay just $20, but everyone receives an event T-Shirt.
Call Margeaux at the Nature Center, 609-898-8848, with questions or to pre-register, and to make additional donations. Join us on June 20th as we say “Thank You” to our Coast Guard friends and neighbors.
