The nightlife at the Jersey Shore heats up when the sun goes down as the hottest local bands, DJs and musicians take the stage at your favorite shore-town bars, restaurants and clubs. Whether you’re tapping your toes to live music or joining in on games like Quizzo and Name That Tune, the fun will last all night long. Check out who’s on the scene this week in Cape May County!

Friday, June 29

Kicking off the weekend on Friday night is the Mighty Parrot Band from 7 to 11 p.m. at Tuckahoe Inn in Beesley’s Point. Inspired by diverse influences, the Mighty Parrot Band brings the sounds of legendary artists from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s up to date with a unique summertime vibe. Dave Benson, Kelly May, Ben New, Terry Dougherty and Mike Biglin have a long history of live performances at the Jersey Shore and beyond, effortlessly mingling multiple music genres.

Also playing on Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. is the popular Animal House Band at Menz Restaurant & Bar in Rio Grande. This band consists of veteran musicians who have played up and down the East Coast, gracing audiences with their dance party tunes. No era or genre is left untouched by this experienced group of players. The band covers various party dance songs from the ‘50s through today’s music, specializing in classic party rock, reggae, calypso, dance, funk, hip hop and alternative music.

Saturday, June 30

On Saturday you’ll find Billy Jack at his “home base,” The Shamrock on Pacific Avenue in Wildwood. A legend in this Irish bar, Billy Jack has been wowing Wildwood crowds since 1977. Years later, his acoustic and vocal talents continue to draw flocks of loyal patrons and create lots of laughs. He specializes in classic rock, sing-alongs, country and parody songs, but he also likes to ask customers for requests of some of their favorites.

“The Piano Man,” Tommy Zito, graces the stage of Boardwalk Bar & Grill in Wildwood on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. Tommy’s experience and repertoire, comic personality and impersonations, and musical mind enable him to put on the ultimate one-man show in any type of entertainment venue. His specialties include ethnic favorites, Broadway show tunes, classical piano and timeless classics of the past 60 years. Other audience favorites include works by Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Journey, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Lonestar and more.

Sunday, July 1

The West King String Band brings grassy folk music to Beach Creek Oyster Bar & Grille in Wildwood on Sunday. Mandolinist AJ Fox, bassist Jesse Harman and guitarist Jack Studer are inspired by a large array of music transcending genres. They incorporate their influences to diversify sounds of bluegrass, folk, country and blues, creating their own unique and original style. Although formed just four years ago in St. Augustine, Fla., the band has spent the vast majority of their days touring and sharing their “newgrass” tunes and clever lyrics with crowds. West King String Band is always open to expanding and growing their sound, so you might find some additional band members performing to allow for a fuller live experience.

Monday, July 2

The fun doesn’t stop once Monday rolls around… check out South Jersey’s legendary party band, Don’t Call Me Francis, at 9:30 p.m. at Flip Flopz Beach Bar & Grill in North Wildwood! With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Don’t Call Me Francis is one of the most requested bands in the Philadelphia/Tri-state area and beyond. Don’t Call Me Francis the high-energy, smash-mouth, get-up-and-jam type of band. Be prepared to dance on your feet all night long, because it’s time to party when Don’t Call Me Francis is in the house!

Tuesday, July 3

On Tuesday, c’mon down to the docks and watch the ferries come in as the sun goes down while listening to the sounds of Keith Hickman from 5 to 9 p.m. Performing outdoors at On The Rocks at the Cape May Ferry Terminal, Keith Hickman puts on a diverse show. He has the ability to sound like the original artist in virtually every song he performs. You will be amazed at his ability to switch from genre to genre, pleasing everybody in the crowd!

Wednesday, July 4

Wednesday is Quizzo night at Anglesea Pub in North Wildwood! Starting at 8 p.m., come test your trivia knowledge with Ronn E. Dee as host. Additionally, you can enjoy Wednesday night’s specials of a traditional meatloaf dinner for $10.99, and half price apps at the bar 8 p.m. to close. You deserve some mid-week fun!

Thursday, July 5

Before heading into a crazy weekend, wind down with MJ Nestor at Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille in Cape May on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. MJ is a singer/songwriter who predominantly plays acoustic guitar, mixing in a blend of classic rock and current favorites to keep the summer vibe going at Harry’s rooftop bar. MJ moved to the Jersey Shore at a young age and taught himself how to play guitar, piano, drums and ukulele. His musical experience and talents shine when he plays his solo acoustic gigs, which he’s been doing throughout Cape May County since he was 17 years old.
