On the Scene this Week:  Aug. 3 to Aug. 9

The nightlife at the Jersey Shore heats up when the sun goes down as the hottest local bands, DJs and musicians take the stage at your favorite shore-town bars, restaurants and clubs. Whether you’re tapping your toes to live music or joining in on games like Quizzo and Name That Tune, the fun will last all night long. Check out who’s on the scene this week in Cape May County!

Friday, Aug. 3

The weekend kicks off with Third Period French, a rock-n-roll party cover band playing music that spans the ‘60s to the present. Preforming Friday night from 6 to 10 p.m. on Two Mile Landing’s Sunset Stage, this band covers all musical styles – from oldies, classic and modern rock, to pop, country, Top 40 dance songs, hip-hop and rap. Known as Philadelphia’s powerhouse party band, Third Period French appeals to all audiences!

Performing Friday night at Flip Flopz in North Wildwood from 6 to 10 p.m. is Coast to Coast! This band provides fans with not only great music and a full light show during breaks, but also one of the most engaging times for everyone involved. They get people up, dancing, jumping and singing along! They play any type of music, and are second to none when it comes to reduplicating the sounds of the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and now.

Saturday, Aug. 4

Mystery Machine hits the stage Saturday night in Wildwood for Dogtooth Live at 10 p.m.! Hailing from South Jersey, Mystery Machine is one of the latest and greatest cover bands to hit the Tri-state area. Spanning 60 years of great tunes, Mystery Machine is everything you want in live music! Catch the quartet of Cierra on lead vocals, Buddy on sax and vocals, Eric on guitar and Jimmy on keyboard.

“The Piano Man,” Tommy Zito, graces the stage of Boardwalk Bar & Grill in Wildwood on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. Tommy’s experience and repertoire, comic personality and impersonations, and musical mind enable him to put on the ultimate one-man show in any type of entertainment venue. His specialties include ethnic favorites, Broadway show tunes, classical piano and timeless classics of the past 60 years. Other audience favorites include works by Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Journey, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Lonestar and more.

Sunday, Aug. 5

Celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead this Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille in Cape May. One of the area’s premier Grateful Dead tribute bands, Dead Reckoning has delighted dead-heads all over the Jersey Shore and more. Come see this acoustic/electric Grateful Dead experience for yourself!

Monday, Aug. 6

Wash away those Monday blues with Tollman Joe’s Mahalo Mondays Luau Show! Every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tollman Joe’s Bayside in Wildwood hosts an exciting luau show with a live tropical band, hula and fire dancers, audience lessons and fun for the whole family! $10 per adult includes your choice of a Mai Tai, Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri, and $5 for children 12 and under includes unlimited beverages. Tuesday, Aug. 7

On Tuesday, c’mon down to the docks and watch the ferries come in as the sun goes down while listening to the sounds of Keith Hickman from 5 to 9 p.m. Performing outdoors at On The Rocks at the Cape May Ferry Terminal, Keith Hickman puts on a diverse show. He has the ability to sound like the original artist in virtually every song he performs. You will be amazed at his ability to switch from genre to genre, pleasing everybody in the crowd!

Wednesday, Aug. 8

Sunshine Jones performs on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at a new breed of beach bar, PigDog Beach Bar in Wildwood. Sunshine plays an eclectic blend of music that spans over a half century, from early Jazz influences like Billie Holiday, to ‘70s folk artists like James Taylor, to 80’s and 90’s pop, through contemporary hits of today. Whatever she plays, her vocals and guitar strumming contain passion with a unique twist that hooks the crowds and leaves them coming back for more.

Thursday, Aug. 9

Rounding out the week is a game of Name That Tune on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at Country Club Tavern in Cape May Court House. Test your knowledge off all things music, enjoy great food and $1.50 Coors Light draft specials, and have some fun competing for the prize!
