MILLVILLE — Mix one part rock concert, one part love story, one part dance spectacle and many parts hairspray and ‘80s fashion and you get the Off Broad Street Players’ (OBSP) South Jersey premiere of the Broadway sensation “Rock of Ages.” Featuring an amazing cast of area performers and the chart-topping hits of Styx, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and more, the perfectly timed Valentine to would-be rockers will amp up the beautiful Levoy Theatre Feb. 12-21.
The stellar cast of OBSP’s 2016 season opener features veterans of the group and OBSP newcomers gathered to bring to life (in sometimes very mature scenes) the story of the love between aspiring rocker Drew (OBSP veteran P.J. V Muniz) and fledgling actress Sherrie (OBSP veteran Jill Bradshaw). Newcomer Ben Shutman is Lonny, Joe Dugan returns as Dennis, J.D. Shaw joins OBSP as Stacee, veteran Yasenia Wagner plays Justice, Holly Birch Knapp returns as Regina, veteran Derek Davis portrays Franz and returner Bryan F. Irrera is Hertz.
The ensemble features veterans Christian Claudio, Julie Mia Moore, Kelsey Hogan, Shaun Laurencio and Jake Miranda, and welcomes new OBSP members Jenna Polise, Nico Tramontana and Susie Elizabeth Tramontana.
Performances are Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
