COURT HOUSE – The New Jersey Ballet brings its production of “Nutcracker” to the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at 2:00 p.m.
Earlier this year, arts enthusiasts voted the North Jersey based company New Jersey’s favorite dance company. Its production of “Nutcracker” has been cited as the longest running original professional production in the state. And when the curtain goes up at the PAC on Sunday afternoon, it will mark a record setting 21st time in the arts center’s 23 year history that it will be performed at the facility. No other group has performed at the PAC as often.
Overall, the ballet company has given more than 800 performances of “Nutcracker” before more than a million fans. In 2008 it made international dance history when it became the first full length classical ballet company to perform in India.
The New Jersey Ballet is marking its 55th season this year as the state’s premier classic dance company. Its cast of 20 includes professional artists from the United States and six foreign nations who have studied and toured with top international companies. Back again by popular demand are the young audience pleasing dancers from the studios of The Art of Gymnastics and Cheer in Middle Township who play the roles of Mother Ginger’s Clown Children.
