THE WILDWOODS – Recently named “the best seaside park in the world,” Morey’s Piers tees off its summer season with the opening of Starlux Mini Golf, a 27-hole putt-putt course featuring two levels, three individually themed courses, a warm-up practice green and concession stand.
Located across the street from the famous Wildwood sign and next door to the playfully retro Starlux boutique family-friendly hotel, Starlux Mini Golf Course will open to the public on Friday, May 27. Mini golfers can choose to play one, two or three of the themed nine-hole courses including the beach course, where players will putt around giant sandcastles and the largest artificial sand dune on the island. The ocean course features fountains and creatures from the sea, and on the second level boardwalk course, the holes are designed with plastic palm trees and nostalgic Wildwood and boardwalk memorabilia.
Summer at the Jersey Shore continues to heat up Memorial Day weekend with the opening of Raging Waters Water Park on Saturday, May 28. Guests can slip and slide on exhilarating water rides such as the River Adventure, Shotgun Falls, the 175,000 gallon interactive activity pool and two interactive kiddie play areas.
All three of Morey’s amusement piers – Mariner’s, Surfside and Adventure – will be open Friday through Monday, May 27-30, giving guests a glimpse of what’s in store at the Wildwood boardwalk this season; including:
• New games: The Hockey Challenge on Adventure Pier tests shot accuracy with four targets placed on the corners of the hockey goal and on Mariner’s Pier, players will be challenged to hitting a hole in one at the new Mini Golf game.
• The Morey Store is expanding to carry a wider variety of children’s apparel and feature homemade bake goods from Morey’s own Tim Samson, contestant on The Great American Holiday Baking Show that aired this past holiday season. All featured items highlight boardwalk inspired flavors such as cotton candy cake pops, salted caramel cupcakes and more.
• Grand Prix Raceway on Adventure Pier will debut a longer, windier track, making it the largest go kart track in the Wildwoods, and the beloved Kang’ A Bounce family ride returns to Surfside Pier.
Also on Saturday, May 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Morey’s Piers partners with CrossFit Parallax to host the third annual Wildwood MURPH Challenge at Juniper Avenue and the Boardwalk. This special group workout will be held all over the country in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2005. The workout consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 100 squats, followed by a second one mile run with magnificent beach and boardwalk views. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Advanced ticket purchase and sign-up is required.
