Morey’s Piers Breaks Out Bier, Bratwurst & Lederhosen for Annual Oktoberfest Weekends This Fall

This fall, Oktoberfest takes over Morey’s Piers with three consecutive weekends of German-themed revelry, live entertainment, a kids “Rootbier Garten” activity area and much more. On Friday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m., the annual festivities kick off with a ceremonial keg tapping of Warsteiner beer, live entertainment from Late Last Night and the Morey family clad in lederhosen. Special guest Helmut Fricker, a German yodeler and alphorn player, will also be joining the opening weekend festivities.

A variety of bands will rock the new Coca-Cola branded stage at Mariner’s Pier near the Giant Wheel during the Oktoberfest weekends. Musical performances are scheduled for Fridays from 6:30-10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m., then again from 6:30-10:30 p.m.

Wilhelm’s Bier Garten, the home of Oktoberfest, will serve ice-cold German draft beer along with local and domestic imports and wine. Visitors can feast on German fare aplenty including, fried pierogies, large Bavarian Pretzels, Bavarian Bacon Skewers, Cheddar Bratwurst and Bacon Knockwurst on a pretzel roll.

In addition to the regular menu, Jumbo’s Grub & Pub restaurant will feature a special themed selection of Bavarian pretzels, bratwurst, German potato salad, schnitzel and more. On tap, guests will find a wide selection of beers and tasting flights to be enjoyed at an outdoor “biergarten” located behind Jumbo’s.

A kid’s zone with a “Rootbier Garten” will be set-up near the Wave Swinger and kids can enjoy a variety of activities including a pumpkin and cookie decorating station. Wristband holders 12 years old and under will receive a free souvenir root beer cup with first fill free. Prices per kid activity vary.

Mariner’s Pier located at Schellenger Avenue hosts Oktoberfest Sept. 21-23, Sept. 28-30 and Oct. 5-7. The pier will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays; 12 to 11 p.m. on Saturdays; and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
