Middle Township Presents Free Sunset Summer Concerts

Summer is in full swing in Middle Township with two free concerts on Thursday, July 19 and Thursday, Aug. 16. Each concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ockie Wisting Recreation Complex at 7 Fulling Mill Rd., Rio Grande.

“Middle Township’s summer concerts provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather together, accompanied by lively entertainment, delicious food and great company,” said Middle Township Mayor, Michael J. Clark.

To the Max – an energetic club and dance band – will have people on their feet and dancing the night away during their Thursday, July 19 show.

Thursday, Aug. 16 features Brandon Tomasello and The City Rhythm Orchestra playing their hip and energetic music inspired by the late Frank Sinatra and the “Big Band” era.

“We are excited to bring this family-friendly concert series to the amphitheater at the Ockie -Wisting Recreation Complex,” said Middle Township Committeeman Tim Donohue. “We encourage residents and visitors alike to bring their beach chairs and coolers and enjoy! With your support, we can make this concert series an annual summer tradition that will foster our sense of community and attract visitors and commerce to the Rio Grande area,” he added.

The summer concerts will showcase the Township’s newest recreation complex that boasts a freshwater fishing lake, 18-hole disc golf course and playground on 82 acres. The concerts are part of an effort to improve quality of life for residents and to earn support of the tourism economy in Middle Township.
