One month after Miss America 2019 was chosen in Atlantic City, the Middle Township Performing Arts Center will participate in the process of selecting a Miss America 2020 by hosting two regional contests.
On the evening of Saturday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m., one winning contestant each from the Seashore Line and Coastal Shores pageants will be selected for the honor of advancing to the Miss New Jersey contest in Ocean City in 2019. The winner there will go on to the national contest in September 2019 where she will represent New Jersey in a bid to become Miss America 2020.
The Oct. 13 contests will bring the number of regionals held at the Performing Arts Center this year to six, among 28 total held around the state last year. Four contests have already been held with winners chosen for next year’s Miss New Jersey event. They include Natalie Ragazzo, Ocean City; Alyssa Sullivan, Middle Township; Madison Welsh, Westville; and Jessica Indio, Hammonton.
In recent years, The PAC has been a successful starting point for several contestants who represented Miss New Jersey in the Miss America event. Two years ago, Kaitlyn Schoeffel, as Miss Eastern Shore, not only won the New Jersey contest, but also finished as second-runner-up among all contestants in the national pageant. This year’s Miss New Jersey, Jaime Gialloreto, began her trip to the nationals by winning as Miss South Shore at the Middle PAC.
