Cape May County

Monday May 31, 2021, 2:00 p.m.

The 2021 County Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the Gerald M. Thornton Veterans Cemetery. Officiating will be Commissioner Director Gerald M. Thornton and Commissioner Jeffrey L. Pierson. The Civil Air Patrol and the Middle Township Navy Cadets will be assisting.

Cape May City

Monday, May 31st at 12:00 p.m.

Please join us on Monday, May 31st at Noon as we open Soldiers and Sailors Park, located at Gurney Street and Columbia Avenue, and honor those who have protected us. Immediately following the ceremony in the park, the Flotilla 82 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will present a flower boat launch on the Gurney Street Beach. National Moment of Remembrance

Monday, May 31, 2021, 3:00 p.m. – 3:01 p.m.

Established by Congress asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. The moment of remembrance will take place on the Ocean City Boardwalk (5th Street -14th Street) as Greg Murphy of Buglers Across America sounds Taps to commemorate the moment.
