LOWER TOWNSHIP – Hawk Haven Vineyard invites you to meet the individuals that are behind their award winning wine and flavors of popular restaurants Quahogs, Red Store and the Little Store during a Meet the Makers dining experience on Sept. 13.
Winemaker Todd Wuerker will speak about the beginnings of Hawk Haven Vineyard, planting the first grapevines and his dedication to his family’s roots in farming. Lucas Manteca, a 2014 James Beard nominee, will relay stories from working in the hospitality and restaurant business for more than 20 years. He is known for a slow-food movement that focuses on cuisine with South American flair inspired by his Argentinean heritage.
Todd and Lucas will showcase their talents in wine and food during a unique dining experience beginning at 1 p.m. Tickets are $35 and include a 2 p.m. wine presentation and tasting with the wine maker and a chef demonstration. Guests can then enjoy stationary hors-d’oeuvres and take a seat for a menu that will feature fresh, local items that highlight seasonal rustic flavors. Live music by the Honeyhawks will play throughout the event.
In addition, beginning at 1 p.m. there is a cash raw bar and a wine bar with special wine selections such as reserve labels, limited edition vintages and pre-released wine where guests can purchase wine by the glass or bottle.
Part of the proceeds from Meet the Makers tickets sales goes to fund the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation and cultural enrichment of Cape May for its residents and visitors.
