Lifeguard of the Week: Alyssa Wendt

By Grace Galbreath

WILDWOOD – Our next lifeguard of the week, Alyssa Wendt, is a veteran member of the Morey’s Piers lifeguarding team! Born and raised in Williamstown, NJ, Alyssa moved to the city of Wildwood about three years ago. This summer is her third summer as a part of the Morey’s team.
She said, “Growing up I always would come to Wildwood. This is my third year. About two or three summers ago I just randomly applied because I needed a job.”
Alyssa works at Morey’s Raging Waters Water Park, located just off Schellenger Avenue. She said,
“Out of all the jobs in Morey’s, this is the best one, because I can go in the water whenever.” She was also sure to mention that the free rides and discounted food are some of the many perks of the job!
“I love the french fries,” she stressed.

Raging Waters is one of two huge water parks at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood.

During the off-season, Alyssa is in school. A recent graduate of Wildwood High School, she will soon attend Broward Community College in Florida. At Broward, Alyssa will major in Aeronautical Science while she chases her dream of one day becoming a pilot.
When not lifeguarding, Alyssa waitresses at Carini Pizza & Italian Restaurant. Even when she’s not working, you can find her there eating.
“I love Carini’s,” she said. “I work there and I love their food. Their pizza is great, big portions!”
Off the clock, Alyssa said she enjoys spending time with friends, riding the Morey’s rides, and catching up on much-needed sleep!
Alyssa stressed the importance of the tight-knit community at Morey’s. She said, “My first summer lifeguarding was when I met one of my closest friends. She now lives with me, and we still work together. If I didn’t work here, I would have never met her.”
Stop by Morey’s Piers Raging Waters Water Park this summer to say hello to Alyssa before she heads to school in the sunshine state. Be sure to try one of Morey’s cheesesteaks, at her recommendation! Tell them Do the Shore sent you!
