It seems as though the endless winter is finally coming to an end, which means it’s time to get out into the fresh air and sunshine! Cure your cabin fever at these upcoming outdoor events around Cape May County, where you can finally give spring a proper welcome.

Get ready to shop ‘til you drop during Sea Isle City’s Girls Weekend April 13-15, where you can stroll the town and take in the seaside breeze. Stop by 40 participating businesses including shops, restaurants, salons, fitness centers and hotels for huge discounts, allowing you to eat, drink, shop and pamper your way through Sea Isle. That same weekend on April 14, Ocean City hosts its annual Doo Dah Parade which will surely lift your spirits. Serving as the city’s season-opening celebration of all things humorous, the parade features marching bands, floats, a grand marshal and a brigade of more than 500 basset hounds making their way through Ocean City. The parade starts at noon at Sixth Street, travels down Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, turns to the boardwalk and finishes on the boardwalk at Fifth Street. The following weekend on April 21, the Cape May County Park and Zoo invites you to love our planet at the Earth Day Celebration. At 8:30 a.m., the day begins with a 5K Earth Day Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, then continues until 4 p.m. with a list of eco-friendly events including music, children’s storytime, an inflatable obstacle course and slide, an interactive drum circle, hands-on educational exhibits, free entertainment, a naturalist hike, food and crafts. Get your racing shoes on for the MudHen Half Marathon, 8K, 5K and Kids’ Race April 27-29! Formerly known as the Wild Half Race Series, this event combines world class running (DelMoSports) and world class beer (MudHen Brewing Co.), and features a flat, fast, USATF certified course with outstanding views of the Wildwoods. Head to Downtown Ocean City May 5 for the annual Spring Block Party! The same day in Stone Harbor, the annual Spring Tide Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the popular 96th street downtown shopping district. During Mother’s Day weekend May 10-13, Wildwood Motor Events hosts the Spring Boardwalk Classic Car Show. Throughout the weekend, participants can show off their classic rides with extraordinary view of the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop. Ahoy, Mateys! The following weekend on May 19, all little pirates ages 12 and under are invited to participate in Captain Kidd Pirate Day in North Wildwood. A pirate costume parade begins on 26th Avenue and the boardwalk at 11 a.m., and a treasure hunt at 19th avenue and the beach follows. Prizes include cash, bikes, weekend stays, gift cards and more!
