That same weekend on April 14, Ocean City hosts its annual Doo Dah Parade which will surely lift your spirits. Serving as the city’s season-opening celebration of all things humorous, the parade features marching bands, floats, a grand marshal and a brigade of more than 500 basset hounds making their way through Ocean City. The parade starts at noon at Sixth Street, travels down Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, turns to the boardwalk and finishes on the boardwalk at Fifth Street. The traditional finale includes a “Pie-asco” at the Ocean City Music Pier, in which everybody is invited to smoosh their friends with shaving-cream pies. The following weekend on April 21, the Cape May County Park and Zoo invites you to love our planet at the Earth Day Celebration. At 8:30 a.m., the day begins with a 5K Earth Day Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, then continues until 4 p.m. with a list of eco-friendly events including music, children’s storytime, an inflatable obstacle course and slide, an interactive drum circle, hands-on educational exhibits, free entertainment, a naturalist hike, food and crafts.
