Cape May County is a treasure trove of thrills, games, specialty seafood, happy hour specials, traditional family-style restaurants, beach gear, breakfast spots, sweet treats, and relaxing rituals. Yet with its 620-square-mile span, the Jersey Shore county can be quite daunting. With all the ground to cover, where should you even begin? Don’t worry, we’re here to help. Island Hopping is your go-to guide for the season with our favorite places to “do the shore.” This week we’re hopping all around the county to plan your day from dusk till dawn.

Start your day with breakfast takeout from Hemingway’s Restaurant in Cape May. The menu has everything from eggs benedict and omelets to Belgian waffles and French toast. Pair your meal with a coffee, tea, or juice and you’re ready to start your day!

Did you forget something at home when you were preparing for the shore? Head on over to Glenwood Avenue, where you’ll find what is best described as your one-stop shore vacation shop – Boardwalk’s Best in Wildwood. Convenience doesn’t even begin to describe Boardwalk’s Best three full-service stores located on the boardwalk. Boardwalk’s Best stocks everything and anything you could possibly imagine to suit your beach needs, including sunblock, hats, beach chairs, and the best selection of swimsuits for men, women and children. They also have locations at 5 Mile Marketplace on E. Schellenger Avenue and Elby’s Variety Store on 25th Street.

If you’re looking for a great lunch option, you can’t go wrong with Salty Mermaid Bar & Grille in Wildwood. The creative menu gives you a variety of great options and their summer cocktail menu is fantastic. Plus, look out for daily specials or live music each weekend!

After lunch, head over to Furry Fur Ends in Cape May Court House and shop ’til you drop for your favorite furry friends! Spoil your four-legged friends with unique toys, treats, food, supplies, and gifts for cats and dogs, plus a wide selection of pet-themed t-shirts for the pet owners! You are sure to find everything you and your pet will want or need.

When you’re ready for dinner, Nino’s Family Restaurant in Cape May Court House can provide you with nothing short of an authentic Italian meal. The menu is perfect for both the seafood lover and those with a passion for pasta, and it brings together the cuisine of Northern and Southern Italy. If you’re an early diner, we suggest the Early Bird menu, served from 3 to 5 p.m., which includes soup or salad, bread and butter, an entrée, a coffee or tea, and the daily dessert. Choose from over 25 entrée items!

After dinner, head to Gorman’s Liquor Store in North Cape May so you can have a nightcap at home. Browse their fine wines, an extensive selection of hard seltzers, craft beers, and more. Take advantage of Pat’s Custom Six Packs and fill it with all your favorite craft beers just the way you like it. No matter what you’re looking for, Gorman’s is there to help!

If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, Douglass Fudge & Candies has the creamiest fudge you will ever taste, along with incomparable saltwater taffy and homemade chocolate. End your day at one of their two locations in Wildwood or Stone Harbor with whatever you prefer! The Douglass family’s commitment to quality is evident after just one sample of these sweet treats, but believe us, you’ll want a lot more than that. Don’t leave the shore without a box of this Jersey Shore tradition!

After a long day out in Cape May County, get home safely and relax. It won’t be long before you have to start planning your next fun-filled day at the shore!
