This week, we embarked on a Wildwoods shopping excursion in search of a few accessories and jewelry pieces that were an affordable and quick way to change up the summer wardrobe. Check out some of our top finds from our favorite stores and boutiques across the island.
O’Neill Merlyn Brimmed Hat
Kona Sports – 103 E Rio Grande Avenue, Wildwood
While the perfect tan is considered essential by most Cape May County summer guests and residents, achieving this level of bronze is a delicate art. A lobster-red sunburn doesn’t suit anyone, not to mention the health hazards severe sunburns can pose. That’s why we set out on a quest to find the most effective and stylish protective head wear to keep your moneymaker shaded from harsh UV rays. What we found was this lightweight, wide brimmed, and travel-friendly straw sunhat from our friends at Kona. We absolutely love the subtle detailing of the turquoise beads and the hat’s deep chocolate color. It definitely stands out from the crowd of basic tan sun hats. This hat’s absolute best feature, however, has to be its flexibility. Fold it and pack it in a corner of your beach bag without worrying about distorting its structure!
Endless Bracelet
M.S. Brown Jewelers – 3304 Pacific Avenue, Wildwood
As we covered in our previous trend report, wrap bracelets are easy, comfortable, and very on-trend for the summer 2014 season. Wraps are meant to be paired with other pieces, and are easy to mix and match with your go-to watch from last season or a chunkier bracelet that needs a little extra love. These Endless Bracelets from M.S. Brown Jewelers are an affordable AND customizable way to “wrap it up” and get on board with this trend. Endless Jewelry bracelets can be worn in thousands of different ways. You can choose from many colors of leather for the bracelets band. Select a single, doublem or even a triple depending on how stacked you’d like the bracelet to appear. From there, you can begin fitting your bracelet with the hundreds of different charms in gold, rose gold, sterling silver, gemstones and more. Before you know it, you’ve got a charm for each facet of your personality.
Alex and Ani Bangles
Marcellina Boutique – 5316 Boardwalk, Wildwood
These maritime and nautical-inspired Alex and Anu charms are a fun yet subtle way to show your Wildwoods pride. Mixing metals is all the rage these days. Feel free to mix and match both silver AND gold bangles for an eclectic stack such as this. The starfish and anchor are two of our absolute favorites for this season, and have been selling out fast! Check out Marcellina’s latest Alex and Ani charm arrivals ASAP.
You can also see a few Alex and Ani pieces pictured that differ in style from the classic bangle. These are just a select few examples of the newest Vintage Sixty-Six line. An extension of Alex and Ani, Vintage Sixty-Six pushes boundaries with designs that are bold, time-honored, and completely original. Utilizing one of a kind vintage chains, castings, jewels, and powerful stones, every design is purposefully crafted. Each piece draws inspiration from the age of youth that grew from the revolutionary ideas of the sixties. They are best described as “retro-chic” and are now available to browse at Marcellina, “a chic boutique”.
Ray Ban Classic Clubmasters
East Side – 3407 Boardwalk, Wildwood
What exactly are Clubmasters, you ask? They are basically Ray Ban’s take on the browline fram sunglasses that ruled the ’80s. The Clubmaster trend actually began after Bruce Willis sported the silhouette throughout the series “Moonlighting”, and Ray Ban took a chance on the shape. According to reports, The Clubmaster went on to become the third best selling sunglasses style of the ’80s, behind the Wayfarer and aviator. Though the browline silhouette originally had a “geeky” stigma, The Clubmaster is back with a vengeance and offers eyes a much needed rest from the hot summer’s UV rays.
