The Kayak Fishing Store is the place to go for all your kayak needs! The store, located in Cape May Court House on Route 47, is dedicated to all things kayak with a focus on kayak fishing. The one-stop-shop handles kayak and paddleboard sales, service, custom parts, accessories, and rentals. The knowledgeable staff can help you find the right kayak for any person, taking into account the person’s specific style of use, purpose, ability, and body type, or find the custom parts you need so you can keep kayaking.
Owner, Chris Parson, opened The Kayak Fishing Store six years ago after years of traveling, kayaking, and fishing for a living. When he opened The Kayak Fishing Store, he wanted to provide the kayak fishing community with the best products, information, installations, and one-on-one customer service for every kayak and fishing need. His wife, Christina, son, Chris, and daughter, Eden, are also kayak fishing fans, so stop in to let the family help you with everything you need to head out on the water.
Chris is also dedicated to giving back to Cape May County and the kayak fishing community by bringing people together and sponsoring events throughout the year. In October, The Kayak Fishing Store and Jersey Cape Kayak Fishing will host the Annual Cape May Kayak Fishing Jamboree benefitting Heroes on the Water. Heroes on the Water is a non-profit that provides therapeutic kayak fishing experiences to veterans, first-responders, active-duty military members, and their families. The Cape May Kayak Fishing Jamboree is just one event that helps improve lives by supporting our heroes and is always a fun time for all! Every May, The Kayak Fishing Store hosts the Jon Shein Jamaica Bay Kayak Fishing Memorial Jamboree. The event, which was co-founded by Jon Shein and reestablished by The Kayak Fishing Store in his honor, is a meet up where participants can fish among friends and like-minded kayak fishermen. This is one of the biggest events on the coast and highly anticipated each year, so plan your trip early and join in on the fun!
While The Kayak Fishing Store does host many large events for the kayak fishing community, Chris is also dedicated to helping people in the Cape May County community get out on the water. He is in the process of planning kayak trips in Stone Harbor and Avalon, as well as other events to bring local kayakers of all experience levels together for a day of fun. While summer isn’t quite over yet, Chris is already looking forward to next summer’s events! The store is partnering with the Wildwood Gables Yacht Club to build the kayak portion of the Wildwood Crest Christmas in July parade, so don’t miss out on this fun event!
This fall, David Dunleavy, an American artist known for his SeaLife Murals, will be painting one of his larger-than-life murals on The Kayak Fishing Store building. Dunleavy has created notable murals along the Eastern Seaboard, the Bahamas Islands, and on the continent of Australia, so Chris is extremely excited for the opportunity to have one of Dunleavy’s murals on the storefront.
Next time you’re looking to head out on the water for a day of fun, stop by The Kayak Fishing Store for all your kayak needs! Chris will be able to help find the right kayak for you or answer any questions you may have about kayaks and kayak fishing.
