This week is another busy one across the county. Halloween season kicks off this week with a few Halloween-themed events, including the Pumpkin Festival at Cold Spring Village which features a haunted house, and a kid’s Halloween dance party in Avalon.

Creatures of the Night: Bats of NJ
Thursday, October 6 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Cape May Court House Library
The talk covers a general overview of bats (what they are, how they work, how diverse they are), a look at the bats we have here in NJ, how bats can be beneficial to humans, myths and misconceptions about bats, threats to bats, and what we can do to help combat those threats. This talk hopes to show attendees that bats are our friends (not something to fear).
Avalon Wine and Spirits Festival – Paid Event

Returning after a 2-year hiatus, the Avalon Wine & Spirits Festival returns with a variety of high-end wine, beer, and spirits!

Sea Isle Beach Cleanup and Dune Planting
Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to noon
JFK Boulevard, Sea Isle City
Volunteers are asked to register on the day of the event at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade, where Environmental Commission members will distribute trash bags, dune grass seedlings, and other supplies. Woodbine Car Show and Swap Meet

The Greater Woodbine Chamber of Commerce Car Show & Swap meet is an annual event that takes place on the 2nd Saturday of October. Most of the years it falls on Columbus Day weekend.

Avalon Arts and Seafood Festival
Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain date Oct. 9)
Surfside Park to 30th Street & the Beach, Avalon
This year, the Avalon Arts & Seafood Festival will feature a focus on vendors with original artwork and photography, craft and artisan items, food, and island businesses!
The event will also feature the returning favorites of live music, children’s activities, local beer and wine, and the Sound Advice Lounge for the Saturday football games.

Cold Spring Village Pumpkin Festival
Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cold Spring Village, 733 Seashore Road
This fun, free event will take place on the grounds of Historic Cold Spring Village and is presented by the Lower Township Rotary Club. Guests are encouraged to donate non-perishable goods to the ‘Share the Harvest’ Food Drive.
Families can enjoy pumpkin painting and games throughout the day. A variety of crafters will sell their wares along the Village’s shell-paved lanes. Vendors will be selling hot dogs, funnel cake, and other snacks. Visit a haunted house at the Village Barn. Don’t miss the Children’s Halloween Parade at 11 a.m.
Ocean City Fall Block Party

Over 350 crafters, food vendors, music and more will be at the popular fall event. Fireworks will start in the evening over the boardwalk.
Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk

The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides is a 5,000+ participant breast cancer fundraising 5K walk honoring over 250 survivors in Ocean City. Check-in starting at 8:30 a.m. at the practice field on the beach block of Sixth Street. Stage program starts at 9 a.m., Survivor Runway Lap at 9:50 a.m., and walk at 10 a.m. Participants can register online at makingstrideswalk.org/OceanCityNJ.
