Events this Week: November 1 – 8, 2023

Towns around the Cape waste no time getting into the Christmas spirit. The first Christmas events of the season take place this week. Christmas Bazaars are bringing early cheer to churches across the county, and Winterfest in Ocean City brings an early winter to the shore.

Ocean City Concert: Silver Wings 

Friday, November 3 at 7 p.m.  

Ocean City Library room N110 

The Fabulous Silver Wings band is the creation of musicians who have known each other for almost 30 years! Their current show features country music through the decades, starting in the 1960’s up to 2010.  

Ocean City Winterfest by the Sea  

Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Ocean City Civic Center 

Chamber of Commerce presents their Fourth Annual Winterfest By The Sea Holiday Shopping Extravaganza. Craft vendors, food vendors and strolling Santa will be present.   

Lower Township Veterans Day Parade 

Saturday, November 4 at 11 a.m.  

Along Bayshore Road in Villas 

The parade will start at the Villas Fire Department and travel south on Bayshore Road to end at Lower Township Hall. The community is invited to watch along Bayshore Road and show their patriotic and community spirit. 

Cape May Lutheran Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale 

Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave, Cape May 

Come out for crafts, jewelry, baked goods, gifts, and more to support local charities. Rumor has it that Santa will be visiting!  

St. John Neumann Christmas Bazaar 

Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 

680 Town Bank Road, North Cape May 

Free admission – come to this festive holiday gathering for Italian hoagies with chips for only $5, and beverages, a raffle drawing, Chinese auctions, and more! The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. 

First United Methodist’s Christmas Bazaar 

Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

First United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, Court House 

Come out for breakfast, lunch, soup, baked goods, handmade quilts on raffle, a silent auction, Operation Christmas Child, and over 24 vendors. This is a great way to support First United Methodist Church and the charities it supports.

Come see live music and have gastronomical tastings of German, English, Italian, French, and American cuisines – this is a fundraiser for Ocean City’s community chorus. History Center Lecture: Gettysburg – One Woman’s War

Professional actress, Michele LaRue, returns to Avalon to share her riveting one-woman performance taken from Elsie Singmaster’s 1913 Gettysburg: Stories of the Red Harvest and the Aftermath. In Singmaster’s story, a powerful and specific exploration of a Civil War icon’s physical and emotional terrain, fictional townswoman Mary Bowman lives the war and its legacy 

Vintage Music Concert: The Moon, Stars, & You 

Saturday, November 4 from 2 to 3 p.m.  

Avalon Public Library 

This concert will summon wine-dark skies, cheerful stars, and the pale moon on high for romantic insight and inspiration. Classic love songs include: Blue Moon, Fly Me To The Moon, It’s Only A Paper Moon, Moon River, Stardust, and more. Performed on vintage guitars by Ken Lelen
