Enjoy this interpretive walk along the maritime forest and dune trails of Avalon where you can discover the local flora and fauna, and learn more about Avalon’s extensive dune systems.This tour is guided by The Wetlands Institute every Wednesday in the summer. 

Tour of the Avalon Pollinator Meadow 

Wednesday, July 10 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. 

71st Street and Ocean Drive 

Join Pat Sutton on a special tour of the Avalon Pollinator Meadow that showcases keystone native perennials that are thriving on this barrier island, and the pollinators they’ve attracted and benefit. Bring binoculars if you can! 

Turtles of the Shore 

Wednesday, July 10 from 6 to 7 p.m.  

Surfside Park, 2901 Avalon Avenue 

During this presentation, Erin Rawls from The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor will introduce participants to several different species of turtle that can be found locally – including the Northern Diamondback Terrapin: the only reptile found in a salt marsh and the turtle you’re most likely to see crossing the road in Avalon! 

Avalon: 102 Years of Broadway

Automobiles, Trains, & Planes Weekend  

Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cruise into Historic Cold Spring Village for the Annual Automobiles, Trains and Planes Weekend! Classic Cars will be on display from 11am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday. See beautifully restored and preserved vehicles parked along the Village’s tree-lined, shell-paved lanes. Model train displays both days in the Welcome Center exhibited by the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines Model RR Club and other locations throughout the Village. NASW Aviation Museum will also be on hand with a restored MASH Helicopter! 

4-H Fair

Grab your buckets and shovels and head to the beach at Heather Road in Wildwood Crest from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and get ready to create works of art in the sand! This amateur and semi-pro sand sculpting contest is hosted by professional world-renowned sand sculptor Matt Long, a former cast member of the Travel Channel’s SandMasters, and “Can You Dig It!” Sand Tools.

Annual wave riding competition for boys and girls ages 5-17 and for adults ages 18 and up on the beach in North Wildwood. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the 16th Avenue Beach; contest begins at 10 a.m. at the 17th Avenue Beach. Registration is FREE but you must bring your own boogie board. New Jersey Jeep Invasion

Rio Grande & Beach Avenues 

The New Jersey Jeep Invasion is the largest gathering of Jeeps in the Northeast with over 2000 Jeeps in attendance, and over 100 of the top vendors in the industry. All Jeeps and vendors are parked on the beach for this three day event, which even includes a beach obstacle course. The event is family friendly and has become a yearly vacation for many of our participants and vendors! All Jeeps must be pre-registered to park on the beach, there is no day of registration, however spectator admission is free! 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday & Saturday. 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Haven Avenue at 19th Street, Ocean City 

Races start and finish on Haven Avenue at 19th Street on an out and back course. The race will travel south down the Bike Path. 5k race starts at 8:00 a.m. with the 1 Mile Walk following immediately after. Bib pick-up and race day registration begin at 7:00 a.m. at the 18th Street Basketball Courts behind OC Intermediate School. Restrooms are available at OC Intermediate School.
