Fall Migration 101 

Wednesday, August 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  

Lower Township Public Library 

Take a deep dive with CMBO’s Program Coordinator, Adehl Schwaderer, into why Cape May is a magnet for migrating birds. She will touch on Cape May Bird Observatory’s three migration watch sites, the information we have learned from these long-term monitoring sites, and some bird identification as well! 

Belleplain State Forest: Thursday Hike  

Thursday, August 22 at 10 a.m.  

Belleplain Park Office, 1 Henkinsifkin Road, Woodbine 

Come out for a group hike, led by experts at the park! Be prepared to walk at least two miles, and come prepared for hot weather.  

Zoo: Jazz & Wind Band Performance 

Friday, August 23 from 2 to 4 p.m.  

Bandstand at the Cape May County Zoo 

The Rowan College of South Jersey–Cumberland (RCSJ) Campus Jazz Band and Wind Symphony will be celebrating an eclectic mix of American music composers and genres. Jazz selections include: “Groovin’ Easy,” “Bandstand Boogie,” “Montego Bay,” “Mack the Knife,” and more.

Every Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. 

Lobster House, 906 Schellengers Landing Rd, Cape May 

Take this guided tour of Fisherman’s Wharf at the Lobster House Restaurant at Schellenger’s Landing and you’ll learn how seafood gets from the sea to your table and discover how Cape May is a major commercial fishing port. Guests meet in front of the main entrance, next to the green awning at the Lobster House. $15 adults, $12 children

Avalon: Dune & Beach Walks 

Every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.  

48th Street & Dune Drive 

Enjoy this interpretive walk along the maritime forest and dune trails of Avalon where you can discover the local flora and fauna, and learn more about Avalon’s extensive dune systems.This tour is guided by The Wetlands Institute every Wednesday in the summer.

If you’ve never seen a Mummers parade, come on out to the Ocean City boardwalk each week from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the boardwalk, 6th Street – 14th Street. These costumed mimes put on a colorful show.

Avalon: Minute to Win It

With just one minute on the clock, are you up for the challenge? Come test your skills with friends at the library! Teens ages 12-17 are invited to compete in a series of challenges, each only 60 seconds long. If you like fast paced fun you won’t want to miss this event. 

Open Mic Night at Cold Spring Brewery 

Every Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Hear locals play their tunes at this beautiful brewery, housed inside a historic barn with a lush backyard space and a gorgeous historic living village museum right next door.  

Stone Harbor: Bird Sanctuary Tour 

Saturdays at 10 a.m. all summer long  

11400 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor 

Meet us at Egret Espy Trail (use Second Avenue Entrance at 114th Street) in Stone Harbor for a guided natural history and wildlife tour of the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary. Bring your binoculars in case we spot a few of our feathered friends along the way! This event is free to attend.
