Horseshoe Crabs: Living Fossils at the Beach

Every spring at the shore our beaches get visited by a living fossil- the Horseshoe Crab! At this Wetlands Institute presentation, we’ll meet and learn all about the Horseshoe Crab, discuss why so many animals rely on them to survive (including humans) and the research and conservation efforts here at The Wetlands Institute.

Community Science is public participation in scientific research, and there is a scientist in all of us! Learn about a variety of community science programs that you can participate in for free, both in person or on your phone. Then, we will head outside and collect data on the wildlife in the area.
MudHen Brewing Co. 5K & Beer Mile
Friday, April 21 at 6:30 and 7:45 p.m.
MudHen teams up with Delmo Sports to put on this evening 5k and “beer mile.” This event will start & finish at the brewery in the center of town: first with our IPA 5K, then immediately following with a limited field of Beer Mile specialists in a concert-like atmosphere starting at 7:45 p.m.
Arbor Day Sapling Giveaway

Avalon Dune Grass Planting

Join the Borough of Avalon for its annual spring Dune Grass Planting. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate. Training and supply distribution will begin at Community Hall at 8:30 a.m. before volunteers head out to their assigned locations. Volunteers will be provided with a bag lunch.
