A History of Baseball in America 

Saturday, April 13 from 1 to 2 p.m. 

Tennis Building, 250 39th St, Avalon 

While Abner Doubleday gets the credit for inventing baseball, the truth is no one invented baseball. Bat and ball games have been played in America since the late 1700s and between 1850 and 1870, it was thousands of part-time athletes who turned an informal game into a codified sport. Join us to learn about the origin of this uniquely American pastime. 

Wildwood Crest Spring Beach Sweep 

Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Centennial Park, Fern Road and Ocean Avenue 

Participants collect, remove and record valuable data about debris, which is presented in annual reports and used to advance federal, state and local programs to reduce litter on New Jersey beaches and waterways. 

Doo Dah Parade 

Saturday, April 13 from 12 to 2 p.m. 

6th Street, Asbury Ave, Ocean City 

Welcome in the Spring season with this comedy parade complete with over 300 basset hounds. Noon on Asbury Ave. from 6th Street to 12th Street and then up to the Boardwalk ending at 6th & Boardwalk. 

Belleplain Birding Field Trip 

April 14, 17, 21, 24, 28, at 7:30 a.m.  

Meet at Belleplain’s Office Park 

Bert Hixon, a wildlife biologist, will take guests on a birding hike for beginners and experienced birders alike every Sunday and Wednesday from April 14 to May 19. Price is $5 per car.  

Spring Concerts: Vintage Jazz Band

Sea Isle: Cookies with Cops 

Wednesday, April 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This event is a special storytime at the Sea Isle City Library for children and their loved ones. Listen to a story, learn all about our police officer friends, share a snack, and more! 

Court House Library Book Sale 

April 15 to 17 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Storytime Room and Presentation Room in the basement 

Items will be available between 9am and 8pm in the Storytime Room and Presentation Room in the basement, and will include books for all ages, DVDs, video games, playaways, and more! 

Belleplain Thursday Group Hike 

Thursday, April 18 at 10 a.m.  

Meet at the Belleplain Park Office 

A park ranger will take guests through one of the park’s many trails. Be prepared to walk at least 2 miles, and be prepared for muddy conditions. 

Tea Time at the History Center
