Do The Shore – Weekend of the Fourth

It is the week following the fourth of July and you are looking for more fun. You are in luck; there are many events that you do not want to miss! Did you grow up as a kid collecting baseball cards or one-of-a-kind action figures? Well then this event is just for you… Come out to enjoy the Sports Cards, Toys, & Collectibles Expo! The event takes place July 5th at the Wildwoods Convention Center beginning at 3pm. The Expo features 100+ tables of the hottest collectibles on the planet, sports cards (old and new), comic books, starting line-ups, McFarlane figures, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beanie Babies, autographed memorabilia, sets, posters, coins, t-shirts, trains, dolls and much more. With free admission and exciting guest appearances, the Expo promises instant fun and great buys.

Young buccaneers and little maidens are invited to the Emlen Physick Estate for the Princess and Pirates luncheon at 11:30am on July 5th! Tickets for adults are $23 and $15 for children ages 3-12. The price includes lunch. The event is limited to 20 children so make sure to get your tickets early! If you cannot make it July 5th, you can come any Friday at 11:30 until August.

If you are trying to find another fun, free event for the kids, stop by North Wildwood on July 6th at 9am to join in on the Sidewalk Chalk Competition. The event takes place on 8th and Central Ave at 8th street field. Register the day of the event. Judging begins at 10:15am. All ages are welcome to participate and prizes will be awarded.

Wildwood Crest is home to 2012’s Cape May County Lifeguard Championships beginning July 6th at 6 p.m. on the beach at Rambler Rd. Lifeguards from every Cape May County beach locality are represented in the competition as they compete for the title for champion lifeguard patrol. Come cheer on your beach town’s guards as they run, swim, and row for the prize.

If you missed the Independence Day Parade in Wildwood, no worry, you still have another chance to watch the 34th Independence Day parade in Cape May. The parade is on July 6th at 1pm and all are welcome to come and watch. Bring your friends and family and have an amazing time.

History buffs are encouraged to join in on one of the Historic House Tours of the J. Thompson Baker House on July 6th at 6pm. The house is located in Wildwood and reservations are required but you will greatly enjoy yourself!

While in Wildwood you may want to check out one of many North Wildwood Concerts under the Stars. Come out and watch Shirley Alston Reeves, the former lead singer of the Shirelles. The show begins at 8pm on July 6th at the Lou Booth Amphitheatre in North Wildwood. The concert is free for all to watch. Another great concert you might enjoy is that of Kick It Out Live, a tribute band to Heart. This concert begins at 7:30pm on July 10th at Centennial Park in Wildwood Crest. This concert is free as well. Kick It Out honors the timeless rock-and-roll music of Heart, performing many of the band’s top hits from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. This show is for all ages so make sure you bring your family and friends. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair!

Keep the concerts going with another free Concert under the Stars featuring Absolute Gold (ABBA Tribute) in Sea Isle City on July 6th at Excursion Park beginning at 8pm. If you live in Ocean City you will not be missing out because there is another Concert featuring Dave Mason on July 8th at the Ocean City Music Pier beginning at 7:30pm.

If you are in the mood to do some crafts and look at some interesting handmade crafts then make sure you stop by the Boardwalk Craft Show on July 7th starting at 9am. The show will take place on the boardwalk at Rio Grande Ave and it is free for all to come and have fun. That same day, trendsetters can check out the hottest looks at the Fashion Show in Sea Isle City at Excursion Park, the admission is free.
