This Annual Convention of the New Jersey State Firemen and Life Members at the Wildwoods Convention Center will feature meetings, seminars and business sessions. Firetrucks from around the state will be displayed in the Convention Center parking lots and merchandise vendors can be found across the street at Fox Park. The American Red Cross will host a Blood Drive on Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. inside the Convention Center – all are welcome. A special fireworks display will take place Friday night at 9 p.m. on the beach at Pine Avenue, and a Firemen’s Parade will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. along New Jersey Avenue, from Cresse Avenue in Wildwood Crest, proceeding north to 20th Avenue in North Wildwood. Movie Night: “The Greatest Showman”

Ocean City’s Air Show Weekend

The celebration starts with the Ocean City Airport Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival features a ground display of unusual airplanes ranging from World War II to the present, a parachute jump from Team Fastrax and more. The Parachute Pyrotechnic Show will return at 8 p.m. on Saturday with brilliant white or multi-colored projectile pyrotechnics ignited as the parachuters fly over the beach and boardwalk. The Boardwalk Aerobatic Air Show will bring some of the best stunt pilots and aerobatic champions in the world to put on a show over the beach and boardwalk starting at 1 p.m. Sunday. Mutt Strut

The 12th Annual Mutt Strut celebrates the end of the dog days of summer. Enjoy a morning stroll on the Cape May Promenade, join the pet costume or pet trick contest, and enter the auction. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 16. The event helps support public dog training classes of the event sponsor, Cape May County Dog Obedience Training Club, and will contribute to P.P.A.W.S., volunteers who raise puppies to become guide dogs for The Seeing Eye. Civil War Weekend

The Civil War comes to life at the Village’s annual Civil War Weekend from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can tour Union and Confederate camps, and meet authentically clad and equipped military and civilian reenactors who will discuss the everyday lives of Civil War soldiers and the roles civilians played in supporting them. The Village, which re-creates a rural community in the 1800s, serves as the perfect backdrop in presenting this event to the public. The battle reenactment begins at 2 p.m. Visitors will be unable to enter the Village grounds at 1:45 p.m. It is strongly encouraged that visitors arrive before 1:30 p.m. The Village buildings will be closed during the battle and will reopen afterwards.
